Manchester United 2011 US Tour: In Pictures

Manchester United have completed their five-match preseason tour of the United States. In that time, they played in front of 288,450 people, with an average game attendance of 57,690. That average attendance would have been significantly higher if it wasn’t for Major League Soccer deciding to play the MLS All-Star Game at Red Bull Arena. If the game had been played at the New Meadowlands, it would have undoubtedly seen a sold-out stadium of 82,566 (which would have increased the average tour attendance to an incredible 68,851).

Still, the 2011 summer tour of the United States can definitely be seen as a success for Manchester United as well as raising the profile of the Premier League in the United States.

It may be quite some time before Manchester United return to the States. Many expect them to tour Asia for the next couple of summers. But the summer of 2011 will definitely be remembered as a massive success for the Red Devils in the States.

Here are some of the best photos from Manchester United’s friendlies in Boston, Seattle, Chicago, New Jersey and Maryland.

  3. Arsenic says:

You spend too much time covering Manchester United and I’m sick of it. Please give equal coverage to other sides for the sake of fairness. I started off as a glory-hunting Arsenal fan from the days of Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Ray Parlour, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Denis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell and those kind of players. I bet most glory-hunting United fans nowadays don’t even know these great players. IF they did, they’d cover their heads in shame because THIS team would take the current Manchester United team to school. Patrick Vieira, the big strong ugly nasty player, would be the target of envy and hate by insecure United fans who realize that another Barclaycard Premiership is coming to Highbury. But I’ve stuck with them having to watch pansies like Wilshere, Nasri, Fabregas, Arshavin and Walcott bring this great club into disrepute.

    • The Gaffer says:

Arsenic, Manchester United just finished a massive tour of the United States so they’ve been front-and-center in the news for the past two weeks. I just posted a behind-the-scenes tour of Arsenal’s ground yesterday. Just in the past week we’ve had articles about Newcastle, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man City, Blackburn, Wigan, QPR and others.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

    • tonyspeed says:

      Tell arsenal to come stateside…

      • Taimur says:

they prefer going to the Far East Asia. smaller countries, less games. You know how stingy Arsene Wenger is with money. Doesn’t even wanna buy a decent centerhalf. lol.

    • fabian says:

arsenic, shut the hell up. those days are over and look at arsenal now. THEYYY SUCKKKK!! Man U is probably the best team besides barcelona rite now so dont bring the past into the present.

  4. tonyspeed says:

That guy in two of the Jason Staples photos was in the front of the Man Utd fans section leading the crowd in songs for the Barcelona game. lol

  5. Taimur says:

LOL. did u see the guy with the Spain jersey and the Barca flag?? Talk about irony and ignorance of history. lol some people just wear multiple jerseys like it’s some kinda fashion statement. not really for the football. otherwise they’d understand the history and know that Catalans loathe Spain and anything that reminds em of Spanish culture and government, including city of Madrid. But, I wonder what vitriol the Barca fans back home would’ve had for this poor guy while watching this friendly.

  6. AMIT says:

Keep arsenal aside focuss on Manchester united success

    RED DEVIL ROCKS…………
