On Saturday August 8th 2009, Norwich City were condemned to a 7-1 home defeat to Colchester United and more importantly Paul Lambert; On Monday May 2nd 2011, the same man got the Canaries promoted to the Premier League where they belong.

Lambert has been supported excellently by the City board with his freedom to sign players he believes will push the club forward, which he has done in tremendous fashion. Ever since Lambert has been in charge there has been a winning mentality, which has been proven with the first back to back promotions to the top flight since Manchester City managed it back in 1999-2000 season.

Now the excellent fan base are hoping this mentality will continue as they will be relishing the chance to invite the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal once again to Carrow Road where once the faithful start making noise no one wants to play.

Obviously with winning promotion Lambert will have extra funds to delve into the transfer market and bring in players he believes the club needs to firstly survive in the league or even push for Europe. Lambert has already stated he wants players who are hungry to play; players who want to play and not just be content with being in the squad. The attacking trio of Grant Holt, Simeon Jackson and Chris Martin all have their fair share of strikes proving Norwich already have a substantial force in front of goal.

Talismanic Holt has a prolific record at Norwich since his move from Shrewsbury Town in July 2009 scoring 53 goals in 92 appearances averaging a goal every 1.7 games which will put City in a confident mood that the striker can continue this record.

The goals do not just come from the strikers either which is always pleasing for fans to see and also makes it a lot easier for the team itself; the midfield managed to find the net over 20 times between them which gave the Canaries the extra push to win automatic promotion at first attempt.

The top flight recently has become a lot more open. There isn’t just the so called ‘Big Four’ anymore, all clubs are capable of beating each other and mounting a serious challenge for either the league or Europe.

Blackpool are a prime example of how the gap between the Premier league and Championship has closed considerably. Everyone doubted the Tangerines as soon as they won promotion through the play-offs with many pundits expecting them to be down by January. However they were unfortunate to be relegated on the final day of the season and being the only promoted team to go straight back down.

This proves that anyone who win promotion from the Championship should be confident because they have every right of being able to stay in the league whether they have the budget or not. Football is not all about money; it’s about the hunger of the club itself and Norwich City have shown they have the hunger needed.
