Manchester City has announced that it has expanded its US 2011 summer tour to include a preseason friendly against LA Galaxy, scheduled for Sunday, July 24 at the Home Depot Center.

The exhibition game is the second announced match of Manchester City’s tour. They’ll play Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada on July 18. Plus more dates for their North American tour are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“As always, the summer’s preparations will be very important for us and I am really looking forward to coming to Los Angeles and Vancouver for the games in the World Soccer Challenge,” said Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini. “The profile of football in America is getting stronger all the time, and David Beckham has done great things to establish the game over there. So it will certainly be interesting for Manchester City to play against David and the rest of the Galaxy team.

“We saw the enthusiasm for football in America when we went out there last summer, it was a really good tour for us. This summer is going to be just as exciting for all of the City players, coaches and hopefully a good number of our fans, who will come out to see us play.”

Manchester City, who qualified for the Champions League earlier this week and who will face Stoke City in the FA Cup Final on Saturday, will presumably face Landon Donovan, David Beckham and other LA Galaxy stars in the friendly.

It’s going to be a busy summer Stateside during July. Along with Roberto Mancini’s Man City, other teams playing exhibition games are Manchester UnitedNewcastle UnitedBolton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion and Everton. And there’s still a good possibility that other Premiership teams may announce summer tours in the United States between now and the end of May.
