Manchester United today officially announced details of its 2011 US summer tour. The Red Devils will play a series of five games across the United States with stops in Boston, Seattle, Chicago, New York/New Jersey and Washington D.C.

The five game tour will feature games against:

  • New England Revolution, Gillette Stadium, Boston, July 13
  • Seattle Sounders, Qwest Field, Seattle, July 20
  • Chicago Fire, Soldier Field, Chicago, July 23
  • MLS All-Star team, Red Bull Arena, New Jersey, July 27
  • Barcelona, FedEx Field, Washington DC, July 30

“Obviously, we’re really excited to have United back in the States this Summer,” said David Herman, head of public relations and marketing for OneUnitedUSA, the official Manchester United Membership and Supporters Club of America. “The USA Tour is a tremendous opportunity for their most ardent fans in America to show their support for their favorite Club, while also leaving a lasting legacy for those new and lifelong supporters of Manchester United to build upon for years to come. Having them in America, again, is truly special.”

In select cities, Manchester United will be conducting open training sessions and special events that will be open to only members of the official USA Supporters Club.

Manchester United last toured North America in the summer of 2010 when they played friendlies in Toronto, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Houston and Guadalajara. The tour was a rousing success for United and saw the debut of Mexican superstar Javier Hernandez (aka Chicharito). In previous years, Manchester United conducted pre-season tours of North America in 1950, 1952, 1960, 1970, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982, 2003, 2004 and 2010.
