By the luck of an act of god blanketing England in snow, Manchester City are poised to be England’s number one at Christmas for the first time in 81 years. With practically the entire Premier League snowed under this past weekend, City’s game against Everton today (3pm ET, ESPN2 USA) has been given the go-ahead. And a City victory against the Toffees will push Roberto Mancini’s side into first place.

But can they maintain that position and push for the title?

Today’s match will be a perfect indication of what Manchester City is made of. In the past, City has come close to success but always seem to be their own worst enemy by either losing cup finals or making silly mistakes.

But in the past few weeks they’ve been on a brilliant run of form thanks to the wizardry of David Silva, Yaya Toure and an overall excellent team performance with the club really gelling. Now that Carlos Tevez has caused quite a scene in the press, it’ll be interesting to see how that may or may not upset the chemistry of this team that is flying high.

So the question for you is whether City can reach the top spot in time for Christmas (i.e. a win today) and can they maintain that for a while? Share your opinion in the comments section below.
