Chris Kirkland’s loan spell at Leicester City could be over before it has truly begun as it is currently unclear as to whether the England goalkeeper will regain fitness in time to feature in any of the five games Leicester are due to play before the scheduled end of his loan spell in January.

The Wigan striker is suffering from a back spasm in a career that has been blighted by back injuries, however the timing of this injury is unfortunate given the fact that the shot stopper felt he had his back problems under control through constant regulation.

Injuries to Kirkland have inconvienced Sven Goran Errikson before with Kirkland withdrawing from England squads on a couple of occasions due to injury during the Swede’s reign.

As then I bet the Swede is upset that his surprise capture may turn into a damb squib unable to make a first team appearance for a team that many of Kirkland’s relatives support.

Sadly injuries have been the story of Kirkland’s career and it seems that the likeable shot stopper’s luck is showing no signs of changing.

As for Leicester the loss of a player of Chris Kirkland’s calibre albeit when his stay was going to be short will always be difficult, however one player who wont be too upset is incumbent keeper Chris Weale who  has been given a reprieve regarding his  number one status.
