Jonathan Spector made the most of a starting appearance for West Ham in its Carling Cup tie against Manchester United.

He scored two goals in the first half to help West Ham knock off the Carling Cup holders, 4-0.

The U.S. International headed home a cross from Victor Obinna in the 22nd minute before pouncing on a loose ball in the box for his second goal in the 37th minute.

Carlton Cole has added a brace since halftime to produce the final score.

It was a big afternoon for the Hammers, who are currently residing near the bottom of the Premier League table.

Spector needed a big day as well, as rumors have surfaced lately regarding his future in East London.

He may still be on his way out, but performances like this one can only help him – whether it’s staying or landing on his feet elsewhere.
