This weekend in the Championship Cardiff City lost their briefly held lead at the top of the Championship, as they lost at home to Nottingham Forest who recorded only their second away win of the season against the Welsh side.

This allowed Queens Park Rangers to regain the lead in the Championship by piling on the misery for Darren Ferguson’s bottom of the table Preston with a 3-1 home victory.

Other notable results at the top of the table included ten man Derby holding off  a late surge from Scunthorpe to entrench themselves in the playoff places. Meanwhile Swansea rescued a point against Swansea with a 93rd minute equaliser against Doncaster, whilst newly promoted Leeds and Norwich shared the spoils Carrow Road.

Towards the bottom Barnsley pulled themselves towards mid table with victory over Portsmouth, whilst Bristol City climbed out of the relegation zone with victory over Sven Goran Erikkson’s Leicester.

However the game of the day was arguably the bottom of the table clash between Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, in which two late goals secured United a 3-2 victory in a game that featured two red cards and a match winning penalty with just 3 minutes to play.
