And so it continues! After Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge blasted the Bayern Munich squad for their lack of passion, Bayern Munich legend and ex-Germany great Franz Beckenbauer has made his feelings clear about the reigning champions’ chances at further success this season.

Beckenbauer spoke to Sport-Bild and said:

“Bayern can hardly win the championship any longer. But we can still finish between the top three and five. We have to make sure that the gap doesn’t get bigger by the winter break.”

It’s certainly not a statement that will inspire a second wind in the Bayern Munich squad. Die Roten have had their worst start to a season in their history this term, and confidence is clearly hard to come by right now in Bavaria. The added pressure of having German greats and Bayern Munich higher-ups Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge breathing down your neck really does make things a lot harder than it already is for the Bayern Munich squad. Still, it’s not like these players are unaccustomed to massive amounts of pressure.

Beckenbauer’s comments have been followed by another awful omen for Bayern Munich ahead of their Saturday clash with high-flying surprise package Hannover 96. Daniel van Buyten and Bastian Schweinsteiger have been ruled out of the starting lineup, and Bayern Munich will also have to do without David Alaba, Breno, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Mark van Bommel, Diego Contento, Miroslav Klose and Ivica Olic. Now that is an injury list!
