While he may not have been able to propel Arsenal to the top of the Premier League yesterday, it has been a supremely impressive start to the season for the latest star to come off the Arsenal production line.

Jack Wilshere has finally been given his chance to showcase his talents on a regular basis in the Arsenal first team. The young midfielder has fitted in expertly alongside the Cesc Fabregas and has given the Gunners yet another creative option.

Wilshere himself admits that playing alongside the Spaniard can only help develop his game further: “Watching Cesc when he was younger and I was younger was the perfect opportunity to learn from him.

“Around the training ground he is helpful and when he is on the pitch he is telling me things to do. He tells me that I am not going to play every week, like he did, and that I have got to break through slowly.”

To be honest though it does appear to me that Wilshere has finally managed to make his break in to the Arsenal side. His performances this season have shown not only his potential but his current ability.

The pleasing thing to come from this is that Wilshere looks set to be a future star for England. He made his debut in the friendly against Hungary last month, and you feel that come the 2012 European Championships, he will be a mainstay in the England squad.

What could make Wilshire such an asset to England is that he offers something completely different to the side. His technique in the centre of midfield is something England looked desperately lacking in South Africa.

It does appear that the England side of the future is shaping up with more technical players over raw power.  We have already mentioned Wilshere, but with players like Adam Johnson also rapidly emerging, the future looks bright. But whether Wilshere can live up to the heightened expectations that are going to come with his recent form is another question.

What do you think? Will Wilshere be a talisman for England in years to come? Or will be another player who fails to live up to his early promise?
