MLS Weekend Preview – Sept. 10-11

MLS Weekend Preview Sept. 10 11

I hear that some English guy is coming back to play for the Galaxy.

David Beckham is indeed nearing a return to health from his ruptured Achilles tendon, but his re-insertion into the Galaxy team sheet isn’t creating quite the buzz as his previous comings and goings in Los Angeles.

And it’s fine with him, apparently.

“It’s a great thing,” Beckham told the New York Times. “No one likes drama.”

OK, so he probably meant that in the same way that I would say “no one likes pizza,” but Beckham’s presence in the lineup – whether or not it happens this weekend – should help the Galaxy in the Western Conference standings.

Real Salt Lake, after a scoreless draw in Seattle on Thursday night, is level on points with the Galaxy in the west and with Columbus for best record overall.

Speaking of the table, let’s check it out:

And here is the weekend’s schedule, and no, I’m not talking about the NFL (though there are no games on Sunday):

Saturday, Sept. 11
New York Red Bulls vs. Colorado, TeleFutura, 4 p.m.
Toronto FC vs. DC United, 4 p.m.
Philadelphia Union vs. Chicago, FSC, 6 p.m.
San Jose vs. FC Dallas, 10 p.m.
Los Angeles vs. Columbus, 10:30 p.m.
