The Hunter Makes His Move To Schalke.

Prolific Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has completed a move today to the Bundesliga with Schalke, where he will rejoin former Real Madrid teammates Christoph Metzelder and Raul.

Huntelaar had been on the outs at Milan for some time now after failing to secure a first-team place, and the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic further reduced Huntelaar’s chances of first-team football. Huntelaar has joined Schalke for a fee believed to be around 13 million euros, and will be looking to turn his career around in the Bundesliga.

Huntelaar began to really shine with Ajax in the Eredivisie, where he scored 76 goals in 92 league appearances, which is a fantastic tally. Huntelaar left Ajax to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, but he failed to settle in to the area as quickly as he liked. Fortunately, in 20 league appearances, he still managed 8 goals which really isn’t at all bad.

Huntelaar left Real Madrid for Milan, and had the relatively same impact at the San Siro that he had at the Santiago Bernabeu. Huntelaar managed seven goals in 25 league appearances, but will be looking to improve drastically on that tally at Schalke.

Alongside Raul, Schalke have two of the most clinical strikers in Europe. The problem for Schalke is still the service that Magath’s midfield provides for it’s poacher-style strikers. If Magath can provide a really creative midfielder to spray passes into Huntelaar and Raul, then Schalke will score goals at will.
