Kacar Will Fortify The Midfield With Hamburg This Season After Leaving Recently Relegated Hertha Berlin.

Serbian starlet Gojko Kacar has today completed a move to Hamburg from recently-relegated Hertha Berlin. After Hertha were relegated last season, Kacar was linked with all of the biggest clubs in Europe. After a long negotiation process, Kacar has signed for Hamburg. The young Serbian has spoken about his delight at the move:

“I am very happy that it worked out effectively. The last few days were a bit hectic, so I am happy now to go to team’s training camp. HSV is a great club that has a great history and want to achieve great things. I think I can develop myself at HSV optimally and contribute with my strengths. It is the ideal club for me. That’s why I’m here and I want to stay here for a long time.”

After Hamburg have already completed the signings of defensive duo Dennis Diekmeier and Heiko Westermann, HSV certainly are making their intentions clear. A push for a European spot will be the minimum they will hope for, after fortifying an already strong side. Kacar is able to slot into the midfield or into the backline, and will provide a battling, determined presence in the team.

Kacar will most likely slot into midfield next to David Jarolim and Ze Roberto, and function as the holding midfielder behind the two. In the future, Kacar could be a very able replacement for Jarolim, whose legs are beginning to go as he moves into his mid-thirties.

Kacar made 64 league appearances for Hertha Berlin after joining from Vojvodina in the 07-08 season. Kacar has also been capped 18 times for his national team, and represented Serbia during the World Cup as well.
