Hoffenheim’s attacking midfielder Maicosuel has moved back to Brazil with Botafogo after failing to settle in with Hoffe last season. Before Maicosuel joined Hoffenheim, he was on loan at Botafogo in Brazil from Cruzeiro. After impressing in the Brazilian State Championship with Botafogo, Cruzeiro opted to sell the young midfielder to Hoffenheim for nearly 5 million euros.

After failing to settle in with Hoffenheim, Botafogo have snapped up the young midfielder who excelled with them last season before joining Hoffe. Hoffenheim will plug the gap with the creativity and flair of Carlos Eduardo, who has been at the club since 2007 and has always been impressive.

Maicosuel, though, never fully bloomed into the player many thought he had the potential to be. He will look to reboot his career back in Brazil where the surroundings and the playing style will suit him. Hoffenheim will have another very challenging season ahead of them if they do not fortify their midfield correctly. While they do have an abundance of attacking players, they are quite weak in the center of the pitch and at the back, and this is something that must be corrected should Hoffenheim hope for a top-half finish this term. The 4 million euros Hoffenheim have obtained for the player should go towards securing some experienced defensive players to bolster their side for the upcoming season.
