Fabio Capello Jumps To The Defense Of Three Lions.

Fabio Capello has responded critically to Beckenbauer’s rather insulting comments about England after their 1-1 draw with USA.

Beckenbauer is quoted as saying,

“What I saw of the English against the USA had very little to do with football. It looked to me as if the English have gone backwards into the bad old days of kick and rush. I am not sure if the England coach Fabio Capello can still change much there.  The English are being punished for the fact that there are very few English players in the Premier League as clubs use better foreign players from all over the world.”

Capello was particularly incensed about how Beckenbauer labelled the English tactics versus the USA as ‘kick and rush.’ Capello believes Beckenbauer is not in the position to make criticisms of his team, as he couldn’t have seen the game like the England boss has.

Capello kicked back at Beckenbauer by saying,

“I am surprised by his comments, when you speak about another team you should always respect them. It is easy to speak about a team when you sit in the stand. But you have to see the game live. We didn’t play the long ball. We played a lot of passes and had chances to score. For this reason, I don’t understand what Beckenbauer said.”

Germany’s Miroslav Klose has stoked this fire further, by adding that if Die Mannschaft meet England in the Round of 16, they will eliminate the Three Lions on penalties.
