For a second there while checking my RSS feed, I thought it was Jack Nicholson. Heh.

  2. Tom says:

Enjoying the interview and Nicholson’s yorkshire accent. I agree that referees and they are too critisized, but I do think video replay could be introduced in a limited way. I’d suggest review 30 seconds after every goal and every red card. That’s it. If linesman is in doubt about offsides, let it go, and then it could be reveiwed if the guys scores.

The NFL serves as a cautionary tale, way too many details are reviewed and the game is too slow.

  3. The Gaffer says:

Hear, hear. I enjoyed John’s comments regarding referees and he definitely makes an excellent point about how hard a job it is to be a referee especially when the players are always cheating and using simulation.

    Cheers,
    The Gaffer

Loved this podcast. I love Johnny’s work on football365 and on EPLtalk. Please have him on again soon. He’s got a fantastic accent! Is that a Middlesbrough voice? Sorry, I’m from The Valley so I don’t know one English accent from another!

  5. Alison, this sounds like a Yorkshire accent to me, so you’re looking at places like Leeds, Sheffield. Although Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire it is the very north of Yorkshire and comes across like a gordie accent, (Newcastle).
I suppose he could be from Middleborough as some words he says sound slightly gordie and others yorkshire.
    Good podcast though, thanks.
