Michael Lewis Interview: MLS Talk Podcast

subscribe to podcast1 Michael Lewis Interview: MLS Talk Podcast

The mid-week podcast spent last week asking how Red Bull New York had gotten off to such a strong start, but with a surprise weekend loss to Chivas USA, it seemed only fair to redress the conversation.

Joining us to do that is Michael Lewis, who covers all things New York soccer for the New York Daily News and Big Apple Soccer. Michael and I talked on Tuesday about:

  • Red Bull’s roller coaster,
  • the missing Juan Pablo Angel,
  • the draft steal of Tim Ream,
  • whether Hans Backe and Erik Soler can dispel conventional wisdom regarding foreign management,
  • the new designated player rules and how they’ll help New York, and
  • the teams that look the best around Major League Soccer.

At the end of the interview we talk to Michael about Sky Blue FC, who Michael covered on Sunday during their season opener against Chicago.

Good guest. Very good insight into the New York sports scene and soccer in specific. It appears everybody should try to get out to Red Bull Arena soon.
