Declan Hill Interview: EPL Talk Podcast

EPL Talk Podcast Logo draft 300x242 Declan Hill Interview: EPL Talk Podcast

Declan Hill’s The Fix (uk, us) has quickly become a seminal book in contemporary football, sounding the alarm on the growing problems of corruption and organized crime in world football. Months after Declan’s previous appearance on the show, we redress the issue of match-fixing in Champions League and Europa League while looking forward to the possibility of similar problems in this summer’s World Cup.

A note on The Fix: As Declan alludes in the interview, a new version of the book will be out next month, one in which he details some of his experiences with the governing bodies as they struggle with these emerging problems.

One Response to Declan Hill Interview: EPL Talk Podcast

  1. Henry Clarson says:

Guys, well done for giving Declan Hill time and space to make his points. He’s absolutely right in saying that illegal gambling, operated by organised crime organisations, have got the game by the short hairs.
It IS disappointing though to hear him naively give the EPL a fairly clean bill of health. He refers to corruption in Asia, in Africa, Latin America, continental Europe yet the most lucrative league of them all doesn’t have a problem?
“It matters more when there’s money on it”, as Sky keep telling us.
My own sources tell me that the EPL is THE most manipulated league in the world. Make of that what you will.
