Algeria

Nadir Belhadj played a poor 45 minutes for Portsmouth and was subbed out. Hassan Yedba dressed but stayed on the bench. Both players left for the Cup of African Nations after this match.

Hameur Bouazza came on in the 87th minute for Blackpool in a 2-0 Coca Cola Championship victory over Derby County.

Yazid Masouri dressed but did not play for Lorient in a 3-2 midweek victory over Valiencennes. Masouri has since left the team for the Cup of African Nations.

Madjid Bougherra went the full 90 for Rangers in a 4-1 victory over Hibs. American Mo Edu made his competitive return in this match, coming on in the 74th minute.

Kamel Ghilas came on for American Jozy Altidore in the 83rd minute of Hull’s 3-1 loss to Manchester United.

No matches in Germany or Italy this week

Algeria’s regulars will be in the Cup of African Nations for the next several weeks. We will update Algeria’s progress in that tournament regularly on the site.

England

England captain John Terry played an outstanding 90 minutes for Chelsea breaking up several goal scoring opportunities for Birmingham in the 0-0 draw. Frank Lampard played 79 minutes and was subbed out in favor of fellow England International Joe Cole.

Peter Crouch, Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon went the full 90 for Spurs in a 0-0 draw with Fulham. Jermain Defoe came on late in this match.

Gareth Barry played the full 90 minutes in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Stoke

Steven Gerrard scored the initial goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton.

Emile Heskey went 63 minutes for Aston Villa in a 3-0 loss to Arsenal. Ashley Young, James Milner, Stewart Downing and Gabriel Agbonlahor all went a full 90 minutes for Villa. Theo Walcott came on in the 64th minute for Arsenal in the match.

Wayne Rooney scored a goal for Manchester United in a 3-1 win over Hull City.

Slovenia

Robert Koren did not dress in West Brom’s 2-0 win over Peterborough United.

No matches in Germany or Italy this weekend.
