Some of you may be thinking that the English football season is over until August. In some ways it is, but many of you may realize it’s far from over. The summer months always serve up a lot of transfer activity and stories, so it’s important to stay plugged in to sites like EPL Talk to keep on top of the Premier League-related news all summer long.

Here are just a few of the highlights to look forward to in the coming months:

June 2009

  • Week of June 1st: The winners of the inaugural EPL Awards will be announced,
  • England plays Kazakhstan on June 6 in an important 2010 World Cup qualifier,
  • England plays Andorra on June 10 in another important 2010 World Cup qualifier match,

  • The first preseason friendly of the summer begins on July 9 and continues daily until August 9,
  • Chelsea will play Seattle Sounders on July 18 in Seattle, Washington,
  • Manchester United’s Asia Tour officially kicks off on July 18 with a game against a Malaysian select team,
  • Chelsea will play Inter Milan on July 21 in Pasadena, California,
  • Tottenham Hotspur will play Barcelona as part of the Wembley Cup on July 24,
  • Chelsea will play AC Milan on July 24 in Baltimore,
  • Chelsea will play Club America on July 26 in the World Football Challenge in Arlington, Texas
  • The Barclays Asia Trophy Cup kicks off on July 29 with a weekend of competitive games featuring Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Hull City and a team from Beijing, China
  • FA Cup Finalist Everton will play against the Major League Soccer All-Star Team on July 29 in Salt Lake City, Utah

August 2009

  • The Emirates Cup begins on August 1 with Arsenal playing Atletico Madrid followed the day later with a game against Glasgow Rangers,
  • The traditional game that starts the new English season, the Community Shield, kicks off on August 9 between Manchester United and the winner of the FA Cup, either Chelsea or Everton,
  • The 2009-2010 season of the Premier League kicks off on August 15.
  • The summer transfer window closes on August 31.
