Depending where you live in the world, there’s a good chance that a Premier League club will be traveling during the summer of 2009 to play friendly matches near you. Here’s the latest schedule of where the clubs will be playing, as of press time (dates are subject to change):

  • Arsenal: Other than training in Austria, Arsene Wenger doesn’t take his team too far away from England on their summer preseason schedule. So far, the Gunners have matches scheduled away against Barnet on July 18, and home against Atletico Madrid on August 1, and against Rangers on August 2.
  • Aston Villa: Martin O’Neill’s side will be playing against Peterborough (July 18) and Colchester (July 21) before they head to Spain to play in the Peace Cup where they play Celtic (July 29).
  • Birmingham City: Alex McLeish’s side will be playing against Dagenham & Redbridge on July 29, and against Cheltenham on August 2. More dates to be announced soon.
  • Blackburn Rovers: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Bolton Wanderers: Only one friendly has been scheduled thus far — against Hibernian on August 8th at the Reebok Stadium.
  • Chelsea: The Blues are returning to the United States again for a series of high profile friendlies against Seattle (July 18), Inter Milan (July 21), AC Milan (July 24) and Club America (July 26).
  • Everton: Whenever Everton comes to the United States to play friendlies, the Merseyside club has a successful season ahead of them. This time they’ll be playing in Salt Lake City against the MLS All-Star team on July 29.
  • Fulham: Roy Hodgson’s side will be going down under this summer to Australia to play against Gold Coast United (July 9), Melbourne Victory (July 11) and Perth Glory (July 15).
  • Hull City: The Tigers have been invited to play in this summer’s Barclays Asia Trophy tournament, scheduled to be played July 29-August 1 in Beijing, China.
  • Liverpool: Rafa Benitez’s side will be traveling around the world this summer to play friendlies in Switzerland (against FC Gallen, July 15), Austria (against Rapid Vienna, July 19), Thailand (against the national team, July 22), Singapore (against the nationa team, July 26), Spain (versus Espanyol, August 2), and to Norway (versus FC Lyn, August 5).
  • Manchester City: The Citizens are heading to South Africa this summer to play against Orlando Pirates (July 18), Kaizer Chiefs (July 21) and the winner of the Pirates against the Chiefs (July 25).
  • Manchester United: The Red Devils juggernaut will begin in Malaysia (against a Select XI, July 18), followed by Korea (team TBA, July 20), to Indonesia (against a Super League Select team, July 24), against a Malaysian selec team (July 26) and then to Germany (versus Boca Juniors, July 29).
  • Middlesbrough: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Newcastle United: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Portsmouth: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Stoke City: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Sunderland: No friendlies have been scheduled as of press time.
  • Tottenham Hotspur: After beginning away to Exeter City (July 15) – managed by former Spurs legend Steve Perryman, Harry Redknapp’s side play in the Wembley Cup against Barcelona (July 24) and Celtic (July 26), before finishing up in China in the Barclays Asia Trophy tournament (July 29-August 1), and then against South China (in the Far East, August 2) and at home versus Olympiakos (August 9).
  • West Ham United: The Hammers have been invited to play in this summer’s Barclays Asia Trophy tournament, scheduled to be played July 29-August 1 in Beijing, China.
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers: Not to be outdone by Fulham, Mick McCarthy’s Wolves will be heading down to Australia too to play a friendlies against Perth Glory (July 10) and North Queensland Fury (July 15).
