Rogers Sportsnet and Setanta Sports have announced that they will share the TV rights to the Champions League shown on Canadian TV for the next three seasons.

Sportsnet’s and Setanta’s combined coverage will feature 146 Champions League matches each season. In addition, Sportsnet.ca and Setanta.com/ca will simulcast a selection of matches online.

“We are thrilled our soccer fans will access unparalleled coverage of the UEFA Champions League,” said Doug Beeforth, President, Rogers Sportsnet. “Along with Setanta Sports, we will give Canadians more choice of games than ever before.”

“The deal with Sportsnet and UEFA is an opportunity for Setanta to enhance our current coverage of the UEFA Champions League,” said Errol Hinds, General Manager, Setanta Sports (Canada). “As a result, soccer fans are the real winner with more UEFA Champions League matches scheduled to be broadcast live in Canada than ever before.”

The Champions League will be shown on Sportsnet and Setanta beginning in the 2009/2010 season and ending after the 2011/2012 season.

In other news, Setanta Sports have announced that their channel will be available on Cox Cable in the Tucson and Phoenix areas.
