This week’s Serie A Team Of The Week was a tough choice and came down to two teams.  Both teams won in their European matches and won their Serie A games as well.  Taking into consideration the results, opposition, and standings a winner has been decided.  Remember that the TOW played matches and/or made headlines from Oct. 20 – Oct. 26. The winner is:

Udinese Calcio

Udinese gets the slight nod over another Bianconeri squad, Juventus, because of their standing in Serie A. Udinese is now in 1st place in Italy after their 3-1 home victory Sunday over a disappointing AS Roma side. A double by Italian international forward Antonio Di Natale sealed the win for Udinese and have them top of the table just ahead of Inter & Napoli on goal differential.

Earlier in the week, Udinese got a home shut out versus Tottenham winning 2-0 and going a top Group D in UEFA Cup group play. Di Natale hit from the spot and Simeone Pepe put Spurs out of their misery with a late goal securing the 3 points.

Those results propelled Udinese to the TOW award over a Juventus side that got home wins over Real Madrid and Torino.   Besides, Juventus has 27 Scudettos to Udinese’s Zero, so why not show them some love. Udinese ascent to the top of the Serie A gives them the title of Serie A Team Of The Week.
