A Well Earned Homecoming

p1 keller 0419 A Well Earned Homecoming

It can be strongly argued as it will be here that the greatest player in American footballing history is finally coming home. Kasey Keller signed with the Seattle Sounders FC yesterday and while the club continues in USL-1 this season, Keller will play for the club next year in MLS.

Keller was a trailblazer for American footballers. From signing with Milwall in 1992 through his heroic play with Fulham to help keep the London side from being relegated just three months ago, he’s always put the best face forward for his nation. While keeping his club career going at various stops in England, Spain and Germany, Keller was always willing on a moments notice to fly thousands of miles to represent his country.

Not long ago MLS made an insulting offer to Keller to bring him back home to the US. Keller even reported that he had gotten a much better offer from the Romanian league. But now with a franchise in the Northwest and Keller at the twilight of a brilliant career, Seattle has done a great service to a legend of the game and to the league Seattle will join next year.

Welcome home to America’s stopper!
