For all the backlash the Premier League faced this season, the 2007/2008 season will go down as one of the best in my memory. Sure, we didn’t have as many classic matches as we’ve had in seasons past but taken as a whole, it was one of the closest races at the top and bottom.Looking back to last summer when I made my predictions of who would win the Premier League (see my predicted table at right), I was confident that Man United would win it for the second consecutive year. I also felt Chelsea would finish strong. In fact, I was able to correctly predict how the top four teams would rank, which is not that difficult anymore, sadly.Where I did go wrong with my predictions was near the bottom of the table where I used my heart instead of my head. At the time, I was impressed by how Derby beat West Bromwich Albion in the Coca-Cola Championship Playoff Final. What impressed me most about the Rams at that time was their defensive prowess. Little did I know how Derby County would fail so miserably in that department during their return to the top flight.I predicted that both Wigan and Bolton would get relegated, but – of course – they survived the drop. The reason I predicted both of them to go down was due to their managers, but what I didn’t know at that time was how quickly both clubs would resolve those issues by bringing in Steve Bruce and Gary Megson, respectively. How did you do with your predictions?
