Liverpool New Home Shirt 08/09: Pictures

Liverpool today unveiled their new home kit for the 2008/2009 season. Manufactured by Adidas, the red design harkens back to a more classic Adidas look-and-feel (see below).

One of the most unique features of the new home shirt is that the inner neck of the shirt features a red checkered area, which is inspired by the flags of The Kop. It also features the inscription “This Is Anfield,” made famous by the famous Liverpool sign in the player’s tunnel at Anfield. See close-up picture here:

The new Liverpool home shirt goes on sale May 22.

  1. If that’s for real, that’s an interesting shirt idea. Not sure why you’d include a design element in a spot where no one is likely to see it but it is different.

  2. Liverpool drops a collar, and Chelsea adds one. Otherwise – no change. Yet fans line up to shell out $100 to demonstrate their loyalty.

Clubs will never be able to stop themselves from abusing their fanbase annually until they’re forced to. FIFA! Stop the madness! Institute a rule that says clubs must keep designs unchanged for three complete season!

  3. think weve gone backwards with this kit plain an boaring reminds me of the colymore days. sums up the club at the moment..parry an hicks design
