We begin a new monthly feature here at the American Soccer Spot ranking the Top 10 clubs as I see them every month in CONCACAF. These ratings are highly subjective and I am sure many of you will disagree with my thoughts. that having been said, let’s roll!

1- Pachuca (MEX)

Can their be any doubt as to this club’s #1 ranking, despite struggles this year in the Liga Primera? Winning the Champions Cup, Superliga and Copa Sudamericana within the last two years deem this North America’s “super club” despite a much smaller following than other top Mexican clubs.

2- Guadlajara (MEX)

Right now the goats are playing some attractive football and look to be playing themselves back to the high level which at times has deserted them in the past year.

3- Pumas (MEX)

The Argentine invasion of the UNAM side has been a good thing. Esteban Solari is the type of striker that win you trophies in bunches if put in the right situation.

4- Atlante (MEX)

The feel good story of the fall has come crashing down in the Spring. Need a turnaround to make the playoffs, and could fall further down this list if things don’t improve rapidly.

5- America (MEX)

The gold standard lost again this past weekend to San Luis. Currently struggling at the bottom of the table, here’s thinking things will brighten soon.

6-  Cruz Azul (MEX)

This team still psychologically misses Salvador Carmona. A year later they still miss him because of the finality of his ban.

7- Saprissa (CRC)

Wake me up when Alajuelense beats Saprissa in a meaningful match

8- DC United (USA)

Signing Marcello Gallardo and Gonzalo Martinez helps solidify the black and red as MLS’ elite club in the eyes of Latin America.

9- Santos Laguna (MEX)

A club on the rise whose new stadium deal will ensure top football for years to come.

10- Toluca (MEX)

Much improved in the fall thanks the handiwork of Jose Pekerman who wasn’t good enough to lead the US National Team (recall that?)

Knocking on the Door:

Houston Dynamo (USA), San Luis (MEX), Real Espana (HON), CD Motagua (HON)
