As if Chelsea needed more rumours about goings on at the club, Spanish sports newspaper AS is reporting that three clubs were already in contact with the player’s agent, Steve Kutner: Juventus, AC Milan and Real Madrid. AS has also reported that Lampard would cost around €18 million (£12.5 million), quoting unnamed sources at the London club and close to the England player.

Jose Mourinho’s recent departure has led to speculation over the future of several of Chelsea’s big-name players but I don’t see Lampard leaving anytime soon. Chelsea have struggled for goals without him and they will be happy to see him recover from his current injury problem.

The second half of the Lampard story is that Chelsea intend to replace him with FIFPro Player of the Year Kaka. The Express (British tabloid) claims that Chelsea will put up a world-record £100m (one hundred million pounds). I just can’t see that amount of money being spent on one player. It would be completely outrageous. Mind you, AC Milan are unlikely to want to sell the player for anything less than an outrageous sum. It’ll be interesting to see if anything develops in the January transfer window.
