Moreno Called up for Copa America
Jaime Moreno will not become the MLS’ all time leading scorer in the next month. That’s because the DC United Forward who is tied with Jason Kreis for the league’s all time scoring lead (with a 106 MLS goals) has been called up to Bolivia’s Copa America team. Moreno had been discgarded by Bolivia in World Cup Qualifying for 2006 and last played in a major tournament for his nation in 2001. This is a big PR coup for MLS as many had speculated that Moreno had been dropped because of the perceived declining standard of the league in South American circles, following the retirements of well regarded South Americans, Carlos Valderrama, Marco Etcheverry, and Anthony DeAvila.
