Listed below are a few highlights from the recently unveiled FourFourTwo Top 50 Football League player rankings. Please let us know what your opinions are on the ratings, either by commenting here, or emailing (brian@championshiptalk.com). I was mildly surprised by the results, and had predicted that David Nugent would be #1 this season.

Top ten:

10. Giles Barnes (Derby)
9. Rob Earnshaw (Norwich)
8. Michael Chopra (Cardiff)
7. Grzegorz Rasiak (Southampton)
6. Curtis Davies (West Brom)
5. Diomansy Kamara (West Brom)
4. Gary McSheffrey (Birmingham)
3. Gareth Bale (Southampton)
2. David Nugent (Preston)
1. Jason Koumas (West Brom)

Championship clubs with the most Top 50 players:

West Brom (4)
Birmingham (3)
Colchester (3)

  1. Kartik says:

Chopra was a disaster with Newcastle a number of years back. I'll be curious to see if Cardiff does not attain a playoff spot if another EPL club comes after him in the next transfer window.

Expect to see Rob Earnshaw have a big impact for a long time!
