With a hard fought 1-0 victory on Monday, Wolves moved up to fourth place in the Championship after beating fellow promotion rivals and fellow West Midlands club West Bromwich. Baggies striker Diomansy Kamara wasted two clear chances late on but Wolves earned a sixth successive win.

The game had lots of spirit and tough tackling and in particular West Brom defender Paul Robinson threw a few harsh tackles. He should have been, at a minimum, booked for his late tackle on Michael Kightly but escaped sanction. Kevin Phillips had a first half goal disallowed as he was ruled to be offside. The game remained scoreless until the 83rd minute when substitute Jay Bothroyd coolly slotted home a left-footed shot from about 12-14 yards out.
