EPL Yanks

Fulham 2 – 1 Charlton

Brian McBride scored the winning goal for Fulham off a free kick header. Carlos Bocanegra playd the final nine minutes for Fulham. Charlton’s Ian Dowie is likely to be sacked as manager in the upcoming weeks if the Addicks horrific form continues.

Arsenal 3-0 Watford

Jay DeMerit played a full 90 minutes for the Hornets, but the Gunners as expected had no problem dispatching their north London rivals.

Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn

Brad Friedel had a sensational outing as Blackburn drew with Liverpool at Anfield. The Rovers and Friedel in particular showed their class, and one must wonder what Rafa Benetiz is doing juggling his lineup for every match.

Manchester City 0-0 Sheffield United

A poor effort for City as Claudio Reyna came on for the last 35 minutes. DeMarcus Beasley is nursing an injury and was left out of thematch squad.

Middlesbrough 2-1 Everton

Tim Howard made the sort of mistake on Boro’s first goal that put him in Alex Ferguson’s doghouse when with Man U. Howard clipped the Boro attacking player on what should have been a routine save, and Boro then converted a penalty kick. Howard was beaten later in the match by Mark Viduka. This was Boro’s first win since August.

Portsmouth 2-0 West Ham United

Jonathan Spector cracked the Hammers lineup for this match playing a full 90 minutes but Alan Pardew’s club continues to be the laughing stock of London, and Pompey got an easy victory.

Reading 0-1 Chelsea

In a crazy match which saw John Terry finish in goal due to injuries to Chelsea’s other keepers, Reading was unlucky to not earn a point. Bobby Convey missed the match with injury but Marcus Hannehman was outstanding in goal for Reading. Chelsea scored on an own goal minutes from half time after Reading’s Kevin Doyle had drawn woodwork on shot minutes earlier.

DeMerit was beaten by Henry on one goal.

I wonder if there’s any chance Brad Freidel would ever consider playing for a new coach of USA….
