Tim Howard kept yet another clean sheet as he move merseyside seems to have paid dividends for Everton in this derby. Howard’s return to form has been great news for US Soccer, and he seems more comfortable dealing with David Moyes than he did with Sir Fergie. (Even though former teammate Wayne Rooney feels the opposite!)

A banner day for US Soccer as Brian McBride scored a great goal to draw Fulham even with the Magpies, and then Carlos Bocanegra came off the bench and scored the game winning goal in his first action of the premiership season.

Jay DeMerit did not play as a game Watford side fell yet again late.

Sheffield United 0 0 Blackburn Rovers

Brad Friedel made two penalty saves to run his total of penalty saves to three for the season. Otherwise this game was a bore.

Reading 1 0 Man City

Bobby Convey assisted on Ivar Ingimarsson first half goal on a free kick. Marcus Hannehman posted a clean sheet saving s hot by Claudio Reyna early in the first half. Recent Man City acquisition DeMarcus Beasley was not part of match squad, due to injury according to Manager Stuart Pearce on the official Man City FC podcast.

Johann Smith (Bolton), Cory Gibbs (Charlton), and Jonathan Spector (West Ham United) did not play due to injury.
